Discount Canon PowerShot SX20IS 12.1MP Digital Camera With 20x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom And 2.5-inch Articulating LCD

I bought this camera in part because of my experience with Canon, and based on reviews. It is a handsome camera, but a bit too big to tuck away, but I knew this before purchase. Handles well, swiveling back panel is very handy, and another reason I went with it.
Movies are sharp(if you are steady), and easy to take. Special movie button gives great access to use.
Operation is familiar to Canon users, not much change there, or in menus.
Back ring lets you spin to another selection, okay but not a big deal.
Now to the important part for me. Even with the stabilization in effect, there is blur in most of my super tele pics. I had expected some at the extreme. I think a tripod is a must for these. Wide angle to mid zoom are not so bad. You can't really use ASA settings much to help as past 200 detail gets eroded to a degree, past 400 very noticable. Much of this is expected in long zoom shots, but Canon's promise is the "IS" will help capture these shots. (some fact, mostly hype)
I am still not sorry for my purchase, and expected I would have to hold steady for zooms, but I had hoped for better than this.
Many reviews praise the features which are plentiful, but I would sacrifice a few doodads for better shots. I kind of think pictures are the bottom line maybe it's just me. Several write ups seem to prefer features to results, why ?? I do not know.
Keep the camera steady, and you will be rewarded, but keep it very steady. Increasing the MPs on this from the SX10 is just a ploy to sell, it really doesn't help out, in fact it may be a factor in the degradation of resolution on the pictures. Pumping it up a bit more than design would allow.
Anyway, I am somewhat disappointed, but I still like the camera, I just make sure I am a statue, if you shoot with one of those car window clamps, shut the car off, or all is lost.
Pros: Design-features-swiveling back panel-hot shoe-wide angle @28mm, and a twenty times zoom. Very good video-ease of use once oriented.
Cons: Must be absolutely stabile or long zooms will blur (expected, I know, but "IS" is supposed to help here, and doesn't much)Buy Canon SX20 IS Lowest Price, Order Now! [Click Here!]

Canon PowerShot SX120IS 10MP Digital Camera With 10x Optical Images Stabilized Zoom And 3-inch LCD Decide Now

I have been debating whether to get a point-and-shoot that is ok, or an SLR that is fantastic. I couldn't justify spending mega$$$ on an SLR because I'm not that sophisticated a photographer. But I have been unhappy with point-and-shoots that are so slow you miss the picture and that have only a "mini-zoom" feature. But the Canon SX120IS solved it all. First, it's a lot less expensive than an SLR. And with the image stabilizer and a really fast shutter response time, I can catch the action before it's over! It takes great close-ups, it has 10X optical zoom, and it has lots of other cool features I can't wait to learn how to use. Plus the LCD screen is large and the controls are easy to use. My only disappointment is that it has no view finder and in some bright light conditions it is hard to see the screen. But overall, I give it thumbs up!

OK, now that I've used it a while, I have more comments. First the good: I could get it from Amazon and it takes really fantastic pictures in difficult lighting conditions, (see my uploaded images.) Then the not-so-good: it eats batteries, (which I think is true of any camera that uses regular batteries) and the lack of a viewfinder is a bigger pain than I thought. Now I'm reducing the rating and thinking I should have spent a little more and gotten the SX10IS or the newer SX20IS. They have viewfinders, 20X zoom and all the good features i like on the SX120IS.Buy Canon SX120 IS Lowest Price, Order Now! [Click Here!]

Cheap Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera With 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom And 2.5-inch LCD

Initially I was hesitant to purchase this camera because of the bad reviews on the shape and size of the camera. I have to say I'm glad I went ahead and purchased it. By far, it has the best features compared to all other waterproof cameras. I'm not in love with the shape of the camera (it's submarine looking)however, I can't commplain when it comes to the functionalities and features. Overall, I am happy with this product. I bought it specifically for my trip to Jamaica and I was quite pleased with its performance. I would however recommend that you buy one of those plastic covers to protect the screen. I already scratched mine =(. Buy Canon PowerShot D10 Lowest Price, Order Now! [Click Here!]

Canon PowerShot S90IS User Reviews

Canon PowerShot S90IS 10MP Digital Camera With 3.8x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom And 3-inch LCD

I've fallen in love with a camera!

The Canon S90 is 2009's best of the smaller digital cameras for those who highly value a 28 mm wide lens, superb low light capability, manual control of shutter and aperture, and RAW capability. There are numerous bonuses, such as the two programmable rings, and a third programmable button, for fast control of things like focus, exposure, ISO, or white balance, instead of scrolling through a hodge podge of menus. If you want a 10x zoom, interchangeable lenses, or a larger camera for your grip, look elsewhere.

I don't like using flash, and the f 2.0 lens and superb high ISO resolution is wonderful. I took photos in a very dim restaurant of friends and my food, and the photos are clean and fairly noise free at ISO 800, and quite good at ISO 1600. Photos at 3200 are surprisingly good if shooting in dim light, not darkness. If you blow them up, sure you'll see noise, however on my wide screen monitor, they are quite good. The photos at 1600 and 3200 are not the quality of a new higher end Digital SLR, however at this ISO, they are far, far better than any other "point and shoot" sized camera to date. To be fair, the S90's chip is a small fraction of the size of an APC or even full frame sensor chip, and thus does a wonderful job in low light. The S90 does "drop" image size to about 1.3 Megapixels to get the ISO 3200 photo if light's truly dim. This is a minor drawback to some, not if having "a decent" photo is far better than "no" photo to you.

The LCD screen is large and bright. Focusing is easy. Overall picture quality, colr and macro photography are superb. The antishake stabilizes well-I take photos at 1/6 second, and letters on a menu in low light are sharp-slower speeds than that and I brace my arms or camera. While point and shoot cameras can take a few seconds between exposures, the S90 has a "continuous" setting in the "candle" low light mode and in "P" mode, that, as long as your finger presses the shutter button down, it lets you take numerous photos slightly faster than every second, for over a dozen photos, if in decent light.

One drawback-the expensive Canon OEM battery only gives ~200 shots. Canon should put in a more powerful battery. Some cheaper off brand NB-6L compatible batteries offer 1300 mAH instead of Canon's 1000 mAh NB-6L, and folks have been happy with those batteries in other Canon cameras. 300 more mAh means 30% greater capacity, not a different voltage. Whether you buy Canon OEM, or another brand, it's best to have two batteries with you. Sometimes 3 batteries as a safety factor if you use the flash a bit, take videos, and will be unable to charge up for a while, Play it safe if you are at a wedding, or once in a lifetime event. Another minor drawback-the back adjustment ring is looser than I'd like, as it can be moved too easily and change settings if you are not vigilant. The front ring around the lens is a dream to work with.

I use the Nikon D80 and D90 for serious work, and used to keep the Canon SD 850 in my pocket for photos anywhere, anytime. I am often indoors in low light , and the S90 trounces the SD850's mediocre ISO 400 and up performance. My S90 stays in hard carrying case on my pant's belt. While the S90 is just a tad too big for fitting in tighter jeans-it fits easily in looser pockets.

This gets 5 stars, and I've just started to learn its many capabilities and quirks.

Canon PowerShot SX200IS User Reviews

Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP Digital Camera With 12x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom And 3.0-inch LCD (Black)

I've had mine for several months now and the problems most people find with this camera (specifically the pop-up flash placement and the lack of optical zoom in movie mode) don't bother me at all anymore.

First I'll cover what i LOVE about this camera, then I'll address the concerns others have voiced.

The real features for this camera seem to go unnoticed by most people. It has aperture, shutter and manual focus. This is unheard of in non-SLR cameras! It allows you to get crisp, sharp and artistic photos of portrait, landscape and macro that have previously not been possible with a compact camera. Because of this, I don't even really consider this a true point-n-shoot. More like a compact SLR.

Also, the 12x zoom that is the first draw for this camera also seems to let in more light because of its size. We all know more light through the lens makes for a better photo.

My only wish is that the continous shooting was a little faster, but that's what my SLR is for I guess! So for an easy-to-carry camera this one gets my money if you are going to an event that is difficult to pack your SLR and all of it's accesories.

As far as the compaints others have made:

The flash positioning is actually not bad. If your hand naturally sits over that spot and you don't need the flash, just keep your hand there. The mechanism that pops the flash up is designed to slip instead force itself up, so you can hold it down if you prefer. It doesn't seem like it might break, which was my main worry when i purchased it.

I'm not even getting into the HD movie optical zoom issue becaue this is a camera, not a video camera. That's just a bonus feature to begin with.

Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP Digital Camera With 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom And 2.5-inch LCD (Silver)

The battery life is excellent, good quality pictures (considering the type of the camera and its price) and good performance. But the most important issue for me about the camera is the perfect size to fit into my pockets pants; as i said, just perfect!

The only bad thing about my purchasing experience with amazon.com was that the retailer (amazon.com), which did not include in the package the following items:

1) Interface Cable IFC-400PCU
2) AV Cable AVC-DC400

As the getting started guide of the camera says, i checked the items that should be included in the camera package and i realized that those items didn't come in it.

The thing now is what should i do to get my cables? How can i contact someone at amazon to talk about that issue?

Jesus Rodriguez

* Canon PowerShot SD780 IS User Reviews

Canon PowerShot SD780IS12.1 MP Digital Camera With 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom And 2.5-inch LCD (Black)

PROS: Easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, compact volume

CONS: Poor Low-Light Performance, some noise in low light, tiny viewfinder, mini-HDMI to HDMI cable not included, SD/SDHC storage card not included

Amazon has the best price at under 250 bucks. Most sites are charging full retail since this camera is so popular.

High Definition video is very good at 720p. This will not replace a full size camera or the 5D Mark II for video quality. But, it is a lot better than most including the original Flip video camera.

An HDMI cable IS NOT INCLUDED with the camera. You will need it to watch HD video directly from the camera on an HDTV. I bought a 3 ft miniHDMI-to-HDMI cable online from Monoprice for 8 bucks including USPS first class shipping. They have quality cables for the lowest price on the Monoprice site.

UPDATE: I am very happy with the mini-HDMI to HDMI cables. They were so inexpensive that I bought 2 of these at 3ft long: one for the iMac, the other is for my travel bag. I bought a 6ft mini-HDMI to HDMI cable for the HDTV in the first floor family room. I should have gotten a longer cable since you have to control the video start/stop/next buttons on the camera. You have to get up often to start the next movie clip. I also bought a small 1x3/4inch miniHDMI to HDMI adapter to carry everywhere I take the camera which is everywhere!

UPDATE: The small cover that protects the miniHDMI and USB ports feels a little flimsy. The hinge stretches. I have to force it slightly beyond my comfort to insert cables. I can see this covering breaking off with a lot of use.

An SD storage card IS NOT INCLUDED. They are available at low cost, under 15 bucks, on the net. Check the Dealnews site for the latest sales. I used a 4GB SD high capacity (SDHC) card which will hold about 30mins of video.

Some complain 2.5inch is too small for the LCD. There is no place to put a larger 3inch LCD on this camera without making it a touch screen like the iPhone or increasing the camera size. Plus, 2.5 inch is common on a lot of cameras. I have no problems with it.

TINY VIEW FINDER: It was hard peering through the small hole. I mainly use the LCD screen about 95% of the time. So, NOT A PROBLEM.

Got this camera to try out the 720p HD, face/blink detection and other features. They all worked great.

I was surprised by the small size since I only saw this camera online and never tried it out at a store. It is slightly smaller than my average size business card and about as thin as a new deck of playing cards. I'm female, but, I never bought an ELPH-size Canon camera because they seemed too small. I was concerned I would not be able to comfortably operate the buttons or it would slip out of my hands. I don't have that fear with the SD780. The brushed metal finish provides some friction. The buttons are placed well. Also, the wrist strap is always available as protection against dropping the camera.

SMART AUTO feature is great! I use it often to take closeup (macro) shots or when I don't have time to adjust the settings. I hold the camera about 4 inches from an object and the camera self adjusts the settings. It amazing to watch it work. I partially press the shutter button to see where the camera is focused and move it to focus on my area of interest. The camera selects of the pre-programmed 18 modes to find the one that creates the best image.

As many stated, the images are superb thanks to the 12.1 mega pixel resolution, Digic 4, and the image stabilizer (IS) function. You should not live without IS unless you are into the artsy blurry pictures. It takes great pictures of kids who don't sit still. Great if you don't have steady hands. Images are crisp, clear and can be easily seen in the beautiful 2.5inch LCD.

I noticed the noise in some of the photos. Did not have too much problems with it.

The 3X optical is fine. Best for the photographer to move in or out to zoom/out on the subject matter and not worry about the camera lens zoom when just taking photos. Zooming during filming would be better. Hopefully, Canon adds this feature to future powershot ELPH models.

Overall, a great camera that is thin enough to hide in a small purse or pocket yet still deliver superb photos for it's size!

(I have owned 7 Canon cameras including 5 digital cameras. I have used this camera for about 1 week.) Buy Canon PowerShot SD780 IS Lowest Price, Order Now! [Click Here!]

Canon PowerShot SX120IS 10MP Digital Camera With 10x Optical Images Stabilized Zoom And 3-inch LCD

I recently purchased this camera to take pictures of the indoor Children's programs I do. The images were very grainy. Even when I changed the camera, to Program Mode, Manual, and Auto, all the images had a lot of noise in the colors. This camera is terrible for anything that moves. Even if you adjust the ISO to take faster pictures, the graininess becomes overwhelming. I tried every option and zoom possible before deciding it was too much work for 1 shot. Maybe someone out there has taken great pictures with this but, if you want something that you don't have to adjust 20 different options to take pictures, then go with a Sony Cybershot. Canon PowerShot SX200IS 12 MP Digital Camera With 12x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom And 3.0-inch LCD (Black) Right Now

Canon SX200 This is a wonderful camera and it should be easy to learn to use it but the instruction booklet stinks. First it is too small and the print much smaller than makes for easy reading. The pictures of the LCD
are so dark I have to use a magnifier to see what the icons are. I have 20-20 vision so I suspect I'm not alone with my thoughts. Come on Canon,
you make a fine camera but spend a few more bucks and make the booklet easier to read, esp. for the novice trying to improve his photo skills.Buy Canon SX200 IS Lowest Price, Order Now! [Click Here!]

Canon Powershot SD990IS 14.7MP Digital Camera With 3.7x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black)

I have an undergraduate and graduate degree in photography - but I don't do a lot with it. In fact, I've pretty much taken a hiatus for about 12 years from shooting photography as an art form - except for one series of projects about two years ago that I did using my camera phone.

One reason I've held off for the past few years is that I've been waiting for a camera with the characteristics of the SD990IS. I wanted a point and shoot camera that would fit in a pocket, that was >14MP (with fantastic image quality) and that would have long battery life.

And that's what this camera is - it has met and exceeded every expectation. While the lense is a bit limited - and not what you'd want in an SLR - that's not what I wanted. I've been taking photographs in the mountains while skiing, assembling them into massive panoramas and having them printed in very large format. And the quality of these images is stunning.

I bought this camera in early December. I've charged the battery twice, despite frequent usage. I bought a 16 GB SD card, and it's been nice not to have to worry about running out of storage.

I highly recommend this camera!
